Six Maoists killed in encounter in Vishakapatnam’s forests


Six Maoists were killed in a shootout between police and Maoists in Visakhapatnam district. The shooting took place when police were combing the Theegalametta forests in the Koyiuru zone of the district.

According to preliminary reports, a search operation was underway and so far six dead bodies (including women) of CPI (Maoist) have been recovered. The search operation carried out with the help of a helicopter. Additional forces are also being sent there. Police are sifting through the forest area. In addition, vehicle inspections at the border have been intensified.

Weapons recovered include AK-1, SLR-01, Carbine-01, .303 Rifle- 03, Tapancha-01, official sources said.
