Rani Rampal led Indian women's hockey team lost the Hockey Bronze Medal match 3-4 to the Rio Olympic champions Great Britain at the Oi Hockey Stadium in Tokyo on Friday. The team fought valiantly in the match, but were defeated by the world's number four team, Great Britain.

After falling behind 2-0, the Indian women's team rallied to take a 3-2 lead at halftime. However, Great Britain captain Hollie Pearne-Webb scored the game-tying goal in the third quarter. Grace Balsdon gave the United Kingdom the lead in the fourth quarter, assisting the United Kingdom to a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics.

The men's team rewrote history on Thursday as it claimed an Olympic medal after 41 years, defeating Germany 5-4 to win the bronze in an edge-of-the-seat play-off match.
