India on Tuesday reported a record 4,329 deaths in the last 24 hours even as daily cases dropped to 2.63 lakh. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the total number of cases in the country stands at 2,52,28,996. 2,15,96,512 people have been discharged so far, while the death toll stands at 2,78,719.
Previously, the country's highest daily death toll was announced on May 12, when 4,205 cases were reported in just 24 hours. On May 8, a day after the world saw its single largest daily increase of 4.14 cases, the deadly pandemic claimed the lives of 4,187 people.
