Heroin worth Rs 400 crore seized from Pakistani boat at Gujarat port


Authorities have seized a Pakistani fishing boat with six crew members and carrying 77 kg of heroin worth around Rs 400 crore in the Indian waters off the Gujarat coast. The drug seizure was made on Sunday night in a joint operation by the Indian Coast Guard and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).

"The @IndiaCoastGuard in a joint Ops with ATS #Gujarat has apprehended one Pak Fishing Boat "Al Huseini"  with 06 crew in Indian waters carrying 77 kgs heroin worth approx 400 cr," the Defense PRO tweeted from its official handle this morning.

The Indian Coast Defence Force and Gujarat ATS officials jointly carried out the operation after receiving information that heroin was being moved on a Pakistani boat. When the boat entered the Indian waters, it was chased and stopped. 77 kg of heroin was seized. Six people were detained for moving it.

Sources told that the consignment was supposed to land at Gujarat port and smuggled further to Punjab for local consumption. The seized boat was brought to the zakhavu coast in Kutch district by the authorities.
