Former Youth Congress President Sangram Jena succumbs to Covid-19

Former Odisha Youth Congress President and elder son of ex-minister Jayadev Jena, Sangram Jena, succumbed to post-COVID complications at a hospital in Hyderabad today morning. He was 44 and survived by his wife and two children.

“Sangram passed away following a massive stroke,” his younger brother Manoj told the media.

Notably, Sangram had been elected as the president of the Odisha Pradesh Youth Congress (OPYC) by defeating Biswabhusan Das in the year 2011.  In 2014, he also unsuccessfully fought the elections for Bhadrak Lok Sabha constituency on a Congress ticket.

Sangram was vice-president and general secretary of OPYC when Rohit Pujari and Ranjib Biswal were State presidents respectively. He was also active in politics during his student days also.
