Former Union Minister’s Wife murdered by Washerman in Delhi


Late Former Union Minister PR Kumaramangalam's wife Kitty Kumaramangalam was murdered last night at her house at Vasant Vihar in southwest Delhi last evening. She was 67 years old. She was suffocated to death with a pillow, as per the initial probe.

Ms Kumaramangalam was alone at her home with her house help when a washerman (dhobi), who worked for her, barged into the house around 9 pm on Tuesday night- along with two other men – with an intent of robbery. He held the home help hostage in a room, then attacked Ms Kumaramangalam, and murdered her.

Police was informed at around 11 PM. While the main accused has been arrested, two others, who helped him, are still missing.

"Kitty Kumaramangalam, the wife of late former Union Minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, was murdered at her residence in Vasant Vihar last night. One person has been detained and search is on for two other accused," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Ingit Pratap Singh told media.
