Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya bags silver medal for India in Tokyo Olympics

Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya bagged the silver medal after losing in the final of men's 57kg freestyle category to two-time defending world champion Zavur Uguev in the men's freestyle 57kg final on Thursday. This is India's second silver and fifth medal overall at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 23-year-old Ravi had reached the finals by toppling Nurislam Sanayev of Kazakhstan, a former World Championships silver-medallist, in the semis. He had come back from 2-9 down to achieve a victory by fall.

Ravi is the fourth Indian male wrestler, and fifth overall, to win a medal at the Olympics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the efforts of Ravi Kumar Dahiya and called him a remarkable wrestler. And hailed his tenacity and fighting spirit as outstanding.

In Hockey, the Indian Men’s team has scripted history by winning the Bronze medal after 41 years. Tomorrow, the Indian Women’s Hockey team will play for the Bronze medal against Great Britain.
