In a tragic incident which happened in Mandya District of Mysore, twin sisters who grew together and were deeply bonded to each other committed suicide due to grief over having to separate after marriage. The deceased were identified as sisters Deepika (19) and Divya (19).
The 19-year-old sisters Deepika and Divya, daughters of Suresh and Yashoda couple from Hanasanahalli village in Sirangapatna taluk in the district, hanged themselves in two separate rooms.
The family said that the twins were always close to each other since they were born. The parents had planned to marry them off to boys from different families. The sisters could not bear the thought of their separation upon marriage and therefore, chose to end their lives in the rooms of their house.
A report in this connection was filed at Arakere police station. The police have begun an investigation.
