Suriya’s Chennai residence gets police protection

Kollywood actor Suriya received critical acclaim for his performance in Jai Bhim, a hard-hitting courtroom drama that is inspired by real-life incidents that took in 1990s in Tamil Nadu. However, Jai Bhim upsets Vanniyar Community which is alleging that the film had shown the community in a bad light.

Vanniyar Community sent a legal notice to the makers to remove a few scenes. A lawsuit for Rs 5 crores was slapped against the makers by the community leaders. Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Mayiladuthurai district secretary declared a reward of Rs 1 lakh for anyone who would harm Suriya when he visits the district.

Following this, armed police have been placed at Suriya’s T Nagar house after he received several threats. As of now, five police personnel are deployed with arms outside his residence. Jai Bhim is directed by TJ Gnanavel and Suriya played lawyer Chandru in Jai Bhim. His home banner 2D Entertainment bankrolled the film.
