Popular Tamil poet and film lyricist Piraisoodan passed away at his Nesapakkam residence at 4:30 PM due to a heart attack. He was 65 and is survived by his wife a son and composer Dhaya Piraisoodan and daughter.
Piraisoodan has written around 1,400 songs in over 400 films in Tamil. Some of his popular songs include Nooru Varusham Intha Mappilaiyum Ponnunthan (Panakkaran), Aattama Therottama (Captain Prabhakaran), Sola Pasunkiliye (En Rasavin Manasile), and Kadhal Kavithaigal (Gopura Vasalile).
Piraisoodan has also acted in a couple of films and he was last seen in the Jai-starrer Pugazh. Apart from being a State Award-winning lyricist, Piraisoodan is also a dialogue writer and he served as the secretary of the writer’s union for a while.
