Tamil actor, comedian and Padma Shri recipient passed away at the age of 74 in a Chennai hospital due to a heart attack. According to doctors, the actor had a 100% blockage in the LAD (left anterior descending artery) vessel which led to a massive cardiac arrest.
Vivek was admitted to the intensive care unit of SIMS hospital in Vadapalani after he suffered from a heart attack on Friday. He reportedly underwent an angioplasty and stenting procedure for a complete block in a critical blood vessel of the heart. However, he passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning.
“Actor Padma Shri Dr. Vivek was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state by 11:00 am today to the emergency by the family members. He was resuscitated in the emergency room by specialists. Later he underwent Emergency Coronary Angiogram followed by Angioplasty. He is currently in critical condition on ECMO in the Intensive Care Unit,” read the press note from the SIMS hospital.
Also known as ‘Chinna Kalaivaanar’, Vivek has performed in more than 220 films. He received several awards for his performances. In 2009, the actor was conferred with the Padma Shri.
