At least nine persons were killed and more than 10 suffered injuries injured after the Bus in which they were travelling fell into Jallur canal in Jangareddygudem mandal of West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
The Jangareddygudem depot bus was on its way from Velarupadu to Jangareddygudem when it went out of control and fell into the Jallur creek. 9 people, including the driver, 5 women, were killed in the accident. More than 10 people sustainted inuries. The injured have been shifted to Jangareddygudem hospital and are being treated.
Officials say there were 47 people on the bus at the time of the accident. Locals say the Bus hit the railing of the bridge and fell into the creek. Some passengers got out of the window as soon as the bus overturned. The passengers of the bus were brought ashore by locals with the help of boats.
Relief efforts are currently underway at the scene.
