Newly wed woman dies, husband injured in Nirmal car accident


A newly-married Woman and her Father were killed and her husband critically injured after a car in which they were travelling plunged into a gorge when they were returning from her reception at Pandavapur village in Kaddam mandal, Adilabad on Saturday early morning.

According to Kaddam Sub-Inspector K Raju, the deceased were identified as Konda Mounika (25) and her father Rajaiah (50),from Patha Maddipadaga village in Kaddam mandal. Janardhan, Mounika's husband and the car's driver Ranadeer, were both injured.

Mounika received fatal injuries when the car accidentally fell down in the deep gorge on the outskirts of Pandavapur, resulting in instantaneous death for her at around 1.15 am. Rajaiah who suffered critical injuries breathed his last while being rushed to a hospital. Driver dozed off at the wheel and as a result, he lost control over the wheel, police said.

The bodies were shifted to Khanapur government hospital for post-mortem. Mounika was married to a person of Maharashtra on August 25 last. The injured were admitted to a hospital in Nirmal and their medical condition is learned to be critical.
