Former Jharkhand MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat found dead in his home


Kamal Kishore Bhagat, vice-president of All Jharkhand Student Union and former MLA of Lohardaga, was found dead in his residence under mysterious circumstances on Friday.

According to police, the door to Bhagat's room was broken down and his body was discovered. His wife, Niru Shanti, was also in the room in an unconscious state. She has been admitted to RIMS hospital in Ranchi and is said to be in critical condition. The couple had reportedly been sick for the last few days.

Bhagat's niece, Mamta Kumari, said that when her uncle did not emerge from his room till 11:00 am, she knocked upon the door and, subsequently, his bedroom door was broken. Niru Shanti was found lying unconscious, while Kamal Kishore Bhagat was not even breathing, she claimed.

Kamal Kishore Bhagat, 55, was elected as MLA from Lohardaga on AJSU ticket in 2009 for the first time. He retained the seat in 2014. But was disqualified in 2015. Former MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat wrote a letter to the DGP on 7 December 2020 to increase his security. Then he said that his life was in danger. Someone is plotting to kill him.

Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, Jharkhand finance minister, expressed his condolences on the death of Kamal Kishore Bhagat.
