Veteran actor and poet Amarasigamani breathed his last in the early hours of Monday on June 21 in Chennai. According to his son Parthiban Sigamani, the seventy-year-old had a mild cardiac arrest Sunday night and passed away at 4 am in his residence.
Parthiban Amarasigamani on Twitter broke the sad news writing, “It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved father Kalaimamani D. Amarasigamani. Rest In Peace Appa (sic)”.
Amarasigamani who was also said to have been suffering from Parkinson's disease over the last few years is survived by his wife Shayamala Devi, three sons and a daughter.
