Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party national president Nara Chandrababu Naidu  on Sunday met UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi as he continued his meetings with opposition leaders including Uttar Pradesh rivals-turned-alliance partners Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav in an apparent attempt to knit a non-BJP formation at the Centre.

The Election Commission ordered re-polling in five polling stations under Chandragiri and Chittoor parliamentary constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. Re-polling will be held in polling stations at Kammapalli, N R Kammapalle, Pulivarthipalli, Kothakandriga and Venkatrama Puram villages on May 19 from 7 am to 6 pm. Former Kerala Minister and senior Congress leader Kadavoor Sivadasan passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday due to age-related ailments. He was 87.

Sivadasan, a five-time MLA, was part of the governments headed by K Karunakaran and A K Antony and had held various portfolios including Labour, Excise, Forests and Wildlife.

Actor-turned politician and BJP's candidate from Gurdaspur constituency, Sunny Deol escaped unhurt after his vehicle was involved in a collision with three cars here on Monday.
