Tamil Actor Bala Singh passed away at 67

Veteran Tamil actor Bala Singh, who made a mark with his villainous act in movies like Virumaandi, Pudupettai, Ullaasam, Simmarasi, Dheena, Virumaandi, Saamy, Kannathil Muthamittal is no more. Bala Singh breathed his last today at a private hospital in Chennai. He was 67.

As per reports, Bala Singh was admitted to the Vijaya hospital for food poisoning, a few days ago. He passed away today at 01:00 AM. According to the reports, his body will be kept for homage in Virgambakkam till evening and later will be taken to his hometown Nagarkoil for the last rites.  

Bala Singh got training from the National School of Drama (NSD). He began his acting career as a theatre artist. He made his first screen appearance in a bit role in Vaa Indha Pakkam, and he received some attention for his role in Ezhavathu Manithan. The actor made his Tamil film debut with Nassar’s directorial debut Avatharam, in which he played the main antagonist Baasi. Bala Singh rose to fame for his role as local rowdy Anbu in director Selvaraghavan’s Pudhupettai (2006). He played notable characters in Kamal Haasan's Indian, Ullaasam, Simmarasi, Dheena, Virumaandi, Saamy, Kannathil Muthamittal, Pudhupettai and many more films. 

He was last seen in a brief role in Arya's Magamuni.  He also did several popular television serials including Soolam, Rudhraveenai, Nalla Neram and Aathira.
