ISRO successfully launches Chandrayaan-2 from SHAR

India's second moon mission Chandrayaan-2 that seeks to explore the unchartered Lunar south pole by landing a rover was successfully launched onboard its most powerful rocket GSLV-Mk0III-M1 from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota. The 48-day journey of Chandrayaan-2 to reach the south pole of the moon has begun.

ISRO chief K Sivan in his offical address after the sucessful launch of Chandrayaan-2 says, " We fixed the snag and bounced back with flying colours. The work done in the next 24 hours after the snag was mind boggling. Corrections were made, tests were done and confirmed. This was made possible by the experts and it is my duty to salute them."

PM Modi congratulates ISRO on the sucessful launch of Moon Mission Chandrayaan-2, saying that it illustrates the 'prowess of our scientists' and the determination of 130 crore Indians to 'scale new frontiers of science'.

Kerala Chief Minister Penarayi Vijayan hails the launch of Chandrayaan-2 as 'the greatest technological achievement in Indian history. 

"CM Pinarayi Vijayan warmly congratulates ISRO on the success of #Chandrayaan2 mission, India's second lunar exploration mission. This is one of the greatest technological achievements in Indian history. @isro" he tweeted. 

The success of Chandrayaan 2 mission makes India the fourth country after the US, Russia and China to pull off a soft landing on the moon.
