31 January, 2019
Suspended TDP MLA Meda Mallikarjun Reddy on Thursday joined YSR Congress party in the presence of the party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at Lotus Pond in Hyderabad.

The MLA from Rajampet in Kapada district, Meda along with his followers and other leaders joined the opposition party, with Jagan formally welcoming him into YSRCP fold. According to the reports, Meda was accompanied to Lotus Pond by close to 300 cars, which is said to have caused a traffic jam in the area.

Sources report that around 4000 supporters of Mallikarjun Reddy have also followed suit and joined the YSRCP. It’s learned that Meda Raghunatha Reddy will be given YSRCP ticket to contest from either Rajampet Assembly constituency or Lok Sabha constituency.

Meda Venkata Mallikarjuna Reddy won in 2014 from Rajampet constituency. He was made the government whip. But the MLA decided to change the party before the general elections owing to his differences with the local TDP leaders.

Last week, TDP has suspended Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy from the party on disciplinary grounds amid reports that he was ready to join the opposition YSR Congress.
