Rajahmundry Urban MLA Akula Satyanarayana quits BJP

Rajahmundry Urban MLA Akula Satyanarayana announced his resignation from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, a few months before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. As per reports, Satyanarayana met AP BJP chief Kanna Lakshinarayana and offered his resignation letter. He also sent his resignation letter to party national president Amit Shah in New Delhi. 

It is heard that Satyanarayana is likely to join Pawan Kalyan's Janasena party and contest from Rajahmundry parliamentary seat. Speaking to media, the senior leader said he had decided to quit BJP as he was upset with the way the party was functioning in the State. He said he was also unhappy the way central leadership ignored Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation BJP has no future in the state he said.

Akula won the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, 2014 from Rajahmundry City. He defeated his political rival Bommana Raj Kumar of YSR Congress Party by a margin of 26,377 votes.

Akula's wife is already in Jana Sena and she has been actively participating in the party activities in the district.
