Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday met the grieving family members of inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, who was recently killed in Bulandshahr violence which was triggered by rumours of alleged cow slaughtering in the vicinity.

The police officer's wife, two sons and sister travelled from Etah to the Chief Minister's residence located on Lucknow's Kalidas Marg for the meeting this morning.  Shrey Pratap Singh, son of Police inspector Subodh Singh said, "We met the Chief Minister and he has assured us that we will get justice."

After the meeting, Uttar Pradesh DGP said that the Chief Minister has ordered a high-level probe into the matter.

"CM listened to the family members 'carefully' and offered condolences. The police force is like a family and we will make sure that the family is taken care of. The CM will also pay off the loan that was taken for the education of the children... One of the children is preparing for civil services and one is pursuing law," DGP said in a briefing..

On December 3, Subodh Kumar was killed in the violence, which took place after the carcasses of 25 cattle were found in the forests close to a police post, with the locals alleging that those carcasses were of the cows, which were slaughtered illegally. A local youth was also killed in the violence.

Following the gruesome incident, Adityanath had announced a compensation of Rs 40 lakh for Singh's wife, Rs 10 lakh for his parents and a government job for a member of his family.

According to sources, the post-mortem examination conducted on Subodh Kumar confirmed gunshot injury by a .32 mm bore bullet on his head. Till now, four people have been arrested in connection with the killing of the police officer.
