Lok Sabha Dy Speaker M Thambidurai hospitalised for chest pain

Senior AIADMK leader and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai admitted to Chennai’s Apollo Hospital has been hospitalised after he complained of chest pain on Tuesday.

As per reports, 71-year old Thambidurai was admitted to the Apollo Hospitals Tuesday and underwent an angiogram. His condition is said to be stable.

Thambidurai had served as the Cabinet Minister of Law, Justice and Company Affairs and also as the Minister of State of Surface Transport from 1998 March to April 1999.  He  contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Karur (Lok Sabha constituency) in Tamil Nadu and was subsequently elected as a member of the Indian Parliament. He has been serving as the leader of AIADMK in the Lok Sabha since 2009.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and his Deputy O Panneerselvam visited him in the hospital.

Thambidurai belongs to the Kongu Vellalar Community which is a majority community in the western districts of Tamil Nadu.
