Congress Working President Revanth Reddy was arrested early Tuesday morning from his residence in Kodangal for giving a call to the people of Kodangal constituency to protest against the public meeting of TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao. The public meeting of KCR is slated at 4 pm in Kosgi, 15 km from Kodangal town.

According to reports, Police reached the residence of Kodangal Congress Candidate at around 3 AM and took him into custody and shifted to an undisclosed location. The police said the arrest was necessitated with a view to preventing any untoward incident in Kodangal in the wake of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president KCR’s meeting later in the evening. Case was booked against him under Sections 188, 341, 506 and 511 of IPC.

Revanth Reddy's close followers were house-arrested as a preventive measure ahead of KCR's Meeting. Section 144 was imposed in few mandals of Kodangal to prevent violent incidents.

"This is continuation to the harassment we have been facing under TRS rule. Police barged into our house at 3 AM and dragged My Husband without even offering any explanation. One of the Officer told they received orders from higher officials. I appeal our Followers to maintain restrain. People of Kodangal should teach a lesson to TRS by increasing the majority for Revanth Reddy from 30,000 to 50,000 votes" Revanth Reddy's wife Geetha Reddy said.

Reddy, who is contesting as a Congress candidate from Kodangal assembly constituency, had earlier called for a shutdown in the town to protest the alleged police raids on his associates in the town to search for unaccounted money. He also threatened to stall the chief minister’s visit to the town.
