Counting has begun for Karnataka’s 222 assembly constituencies, where the voting had taken place on Saturday. A record 72.13 percent polling had taken place in Karnataka on 12 May despite several areas in north Karnataka suffering from heat wave. 

According to latest reports, the BJP was ahead of the ruling Congress in 119 of the 222 constituencies. Congress is leading in 62 seats. The Janata Dal-Secular of former Prime Minister H.D. Dewe Gowda, which has been expected to play the role of a kingmaker in the event of a hung Assembly, was leading in 40 seats. Today’s verdict may have the effect on the outcome of 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Former Chief Minister and BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa is leading in Shikaripura constituency with 9,816 votes so far. 

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is trailing in Chamundeshwari. He is trailing by 14,734 votes as per trends available at 10.50 a.m. IST.  In Badami he has gained a lead of over 3,000 votes against BJP’s B. Sriramulu.

In Ramanagaram, JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy is leading with nearly 2,000 votes. In Channapatna too Mr. Kumaraswamy is leading by a margin of over 5,800 votes.

BJP’s K.S. Eshwarappa, former Deputy Chief Minister is leading in Shivamogga segment by more than 11,000 votes.
