Kanna Lakshminarayana named chief of AP BJP

Kanna Lakshminarayana has been made the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Andhra Pradesh unit on Sunday. Chandrababu Naidu's string detractor MLC Somu Veerraju was made the state convener of the election management committee.

BJP's National General secretary Arjun Singh, said, “The national president of BJP, Amit Shah, has appointed Kanna Lakshminarayana, ex-minister, as the state president of BJP AP. MLC Somu Veerraju will be the state convenor of Election Management Committee.”

Few days ago reports emerged that Kanna Lakshminarayana was quitting the BJP to join the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP). 

Kanna, previously a Congressman, began his political innings with National Students Union of India. Lakshminarayana is a five-time MLA from Guntur district. He had served in the Cabinets of former Chief Ministers N. Janardhana Reddy, K. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, K. Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy.
