Tuesday Jul 23, 2019
Actor Rajkummar Rao, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film Judgementall Hai Kya alongside Kangna Rananut, has reportedly given his nod to star in the Sajid Nadiadwala-produced remake of the Tamil film Jigarthanda. Abhishek Chaubey will weild megaphone for the untitled remake and the 'Newton' actor will essay the role played by Siddharth Narayan in the Tamil version.

According to industry sources, Saif Ali Khan’s name is being considered to play the role of the gangster in the film. Saif has played a desi gangster Langda Tyagi earlier in the Vishal Bahradwaj film Omkara and in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja. While Rajkummar is almost finalized, Saif is believed to be still in talks with the makers.

"Jigarthanda is a two-hero project. It revolves around a young aspiring filmmaker who decides to make a gangster film and follows a real-life gangster in search of a solid story. Siddharth and Bobby Simha made both characters memorable with their exceptional performances with the later even bagging a National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor. Now in the Hindi remake, Rajkummar will be playing Siddharth's character while Saif, if he comes on board, will be seen playing a notorious gangster for the very first time," reveals a source.

'Jigarthanda' is presently remade in Telugu by Harish Shankar as 'Valmiki' starring Varun Tej and Atharvaa.
